Basketball was ignited here in the Coláiste 13 years ago by the great Inion McGovern. She was the first to lead our 2nd year Boys’ team to a Regional final and succeeded promotion to C League basketball for our boys. After her departure Coach Ciaran McGroggan (Drogheda Wolves BC) came in and took over the reigns. He has worked with all ages boys and girls and has succeeded to win North East League titles with 1st year boys, U16 girls and U19 boys.
We are currently playing C division with both our girls and boys teams, with club players feeding into to us from East Coast Cavaliers and Drogheda Wolves clubs. As there has been such a halt on basketball nationwide for the past 18 months we are really trying to put a big push on it again this year to get players back playing and enjoying themselves and hopefully back competing in the the league and cup competitions.
